Cross Border Call Authentication for Fighting Fraudulent Calls Takes the Stage at CABASE Internet Day
Trusted communications leader, iconectiv, examines interconnection challenges and protects networks from being misused and abused by fraudsters
Why: In Argentina, most consumers rely on mobile and internet communications to stay connected. In fact, according to a recent report, at the start of 2024, almost everyone in Argentina had at least one active cellular mobile connection (representing a penetration rate of 135%), while much of the country (more than 88%) had internet access. This level of mobility, coupled with businesses’ reliance on phone calls to reach their customers and vice versa, underpin the importance of maintaining both efficiencies and trust in these vital communications channels.
What: This topic, as well as other timely industry-related discussions, will be the focus of two sessions presented by iconectiv during CABASE Internet Day in Buenos Aires, Argentina:
- Common Language for seamless interconnection and better visibility into network assets for planning and service activation.
- Cross Border Call Authentication for helping to stem the tide of misuse and abuse that is permeating communication networks globally and causing undue harm, inconvenience and having a negative financial impact on legitimate businesses and unsuspecting individuals.
Who: During the Common Language session, iconectiv will examine how leveraging a standard language for how communications service providers (from wireless to broadband) refer to their network equipment and assets can aid them with their network planning and expansion efforts to connect underserved areas and ensure connectivity for all Argentinians while also helping provide efficiencies for the roll-out of next-generation technologies such as 5G.
In the Cross Border Call Authentication session, iconectiv will explore the latest treatment of international calling and what needs to be done to ensure that fraudsters are blocked from using the networks as their pathway to defraud while helping ensure that consumers have a high level of confidence when choosing to answer a call. iconectiv will address a variety of topics, such as why legitimate international calls are being blocked or marked as suspicious, the state of play for implementing call authentication standards in Argentina and internationally, the best solutions for addressing the current cross border authentication issue and who needs to be involved.
