iconectiv Emphasizes Need for IoT Interoperability for Reliable Functionality and Security at oneM2M Industry Day in India
Chris Drake, CTO of iconectiv, an authoritative partner of the global communications industry connecting more than two billion people every day, will participate in a panel discussing “The Role and Value Proposition of oneM2M in the IoT Standards Landscape” today during oneM2M Industry Day in Bangalore, India.
Sharing the panel with executives from Qualcomm, Nokia, Huawei and C-DOT, Drake will emphasize the often overlooked need to adopt broad internet of things (IoT) interoperability and connectivity standards. Initial IoT developments focused on individual devices and single-purpose applications have resulted in a fragmented ecosystem that does not offer the functionality and security that consumers and businesses expect. Drake will offer ideas to build collaborative devices and applications where trust essential to interoperability can be managed at scale in the IoT.
Drake is chief technology officer of iconectiv and is responsible for internal and external technology initiatives. With over 25 years in the telecommunications industry, Drake serves on the board and executive committee of the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) and the Industrial Advisory Board for the Security and Software Engineering Research Center (S2ERC IAB) through Georgetown, Ball State University and the National Science Foundation.
